Our Story
Way back in 2003 when I was working 70 plus hours a week managing multiple locations for one of the largest furniture manufacturers and retailers in the nation, my lovely wife said that it was too much time away from the family. I said and I quote, "Well I am good at running a business and making soap." By the way I hadn't made soap in years, actually since college. Now, she grabbed that and started looking at what locally we could do to take advantage of this.
She decided with my input that a natural skincare company and business was lacking in the area. So Amish Country Soap Company was born in 2004 a wholesale option first. Then the idea was to open a retail store in Millersburg in 2008 during a not so good economy. I usually the risk taker was a bit unsettled by this at the time. She was confident we could do it, not sure if that was confidence in me or the company.
2008 comes and we open our natural skincare company in downtown Millersburg. Three years later in comes a friend from Berlin and offers us the opportunity to move into a building he is currently in but not using all of. So we took the leap and moved over and the rest is, well history. There is more to this story, but that will be in a video a bit later.
